INDUSTRIAL MECHANIC (M/F/O)
Your post in our crew:

As an industrial mechanic you are no ordinary seaman – you are the one who keeps it all up and running! At our shipyard, you can expect a variety of activities:

  • You build and repair ships, but you are also in demand for operational repairs and general mechanical engineering.
  • Your training will enable you to personally manufacture and install all mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic machine components.
  • Nothing will escape your trained eye during inspections and maintenance checks.
How we will get you on board:

Strong muscles and a razor-sharp mind – this training makes you an absolute expert in metalworking! It comprises courses in thermal cutting, turning/milling, the control technology of machinery as well as in electric and gas welding. You will also work in various production departments, assembling, disassembling, testing and commissioning systems.

CONSTRUCTION MECHANIC (M/F/O)
Your post in our crew:

As a construction mechanic at our shipyard, you work with many different and often huge machines to make ship components. You can use the skills you have learned for the following tasks:

  • You build and repair ships by constructing the necessary parts.
  • This includes making individual parts and assembling them into sections.
  • Above all, this requires ability and brains – that’s why we give you the right tools and techniques.
How we will get you on board:

Shipbuilding technology: After mastering the fundamentals of metal technology, you will learn how to read design drawings and lines drawings in order to independently develop ship components. You will also meticulously draw up your own technical documents such as sketches, dimension sheets and templates for production. Working safely with large machinery like presses, frame bending machines or rollers is another important part of training.

Welding: You will learn the basics of welding and metal technology to produce and assemble ship components. You will also prepare your own technical documents for this purpose. After you have completed the courses in welding and flame cutting, you will be fit for shipbuilding and ready to spark.

SYSTEMS MECHANIC (M/F/O)

As a Systems Mechanic in our shipyard, you should passionately enjoy working on the supply systems of ships. Want to get started at full steam? Then this training on our shipyard is the right choice for you! Your tasks:

  • To know the labyrinthine pipe and supply systems of our ships like the back of your hand.
  • To have a detailed understanding of piping diagrams and isometric representations and know which materials and techniques are required for the job at hand.
  • To both produce equipment and keep it in good shape with a high degree of craftsmanship. Whether reshaping, mounting or identifying errors, we can rely on you!
How we will get you on board:

The goal of this training is to build your skills in metalworking. You will also learn how to design and produce templates and processes – your compass for the precise processing of a variety of pipe materials. You will constantly build your experience and expertise in order to install, test and repair fittings, safety equipment and systems of all kinds on your own. You can then build on your basic training by studying pipe system technology or welding engineering.

WAREHOUSE LOGISTICS SPECIALIST (M/F/O)

As a warehouse logistics specialist, you will be on top of things on deck. You will know exactly what is stored where, what is needed when and how best to get from A to B. More precisely, you show dedication to our warehouse and shipping:

  • You receive goods and check the delivery using the accompanying documents.
  • You professionally transport goods to their destination and store them there.
  • You also pick and pack goods and load these onto various means of transport appropriately.
How we will get you on board:

During training you will learn all about modern warehousing. This begins with driving forklift trucks and does not stop at correctly filling out delivery notes and customs declarations. You will discover how to obtain and evaluate stock, compare offers, organise optimal worldwide shipping and much more.

TECHNICAL PRODUCT DESIGNER (M/F/O)
Your post in our crew:

As a technical product designer at our shipyard, you will design innovative ship components and set the sails for your colleagues in construction. This means:

  • You develop components and assemblies for our ships, from the initial idea to the technical design.
  • This involves preparing or modifying drawings and creating functional and assembly-oriented designs and 3D models on the computer using current CAD programs.
  • And to ensure that there are no snags when it comes to implementation, you coordinate the construction and monitor the results.
How we will get you on board:

You will learn how to make sketches and design drawings and make the necessary calculations. You will learn the basics of control and electrical engineering, but also how to think economically and in terms of quality assurance. Soon you will be able to independently create and maintain technical documentation such as production documents and parts lists – the charts with which you will keep the construction of our ships on course.

Industrial Manager (M/F/O)
Your post in our crew:

As an industrial manager, you have an overview of what’s happening on board – you learn the ropes on every deck of the company. Do you like variety? Then this is your study program:

  • You will get to grips with commercial and business management tasks and get a taste of practical experience in the areas of materials management, sales and marketing, human resources, and finance and accounting.
  • Depending on your area of application, you will plan, control and monitor various business processes and be integrated into commercial workflows.
  • You will get a holistic picture of our company and become the central contact person for customers, suppliers, colleagues and even management.

As an IT specialist in system integration, you will whip our IT into shape to facilitate and optimise daily processes. And because our employees jump into things like fish into a net, you will have your hands full:

  • You will plan and configure IT systems, which you will also set up, implement and manage according to the needs of our internal customers. You will thoroughly document everything you do.
  • Whether it be servers, laptops, printers or projectors – you advise users in an expert and friendly manner on all technical equipment, train users on all aspects of hardware and software, and solve application and system problems that arise.
  • In the event of a disruption, you will quickly identify the fault by systematically narrowing it down using diagnostic systems.

From data security to power supply, you will learn everything you need to know for your job in IT. Parallel to attending vocational school, you will apply your knowledge intensively in our IT department. Do you want to be involved in all kinds of company processes? Do you have a passion for numbers? Then we have just the right program for you, with all the variety you need. No other course of study will open you up to such a diverse range of career paths:

  • As a management expert, you will have the chance to actively shape the areas of materials management, marketing, finance and accounting, managerial accounting, human resources and general administration.
  • You will analyse business management and improve processes and key performance indicators within our company.
  • Eventually you can decide which area you enjoy most, or you can gain experience in a number of different departments over time.

During your work-and-study program, you will attend seminars at the university and then learn more about these topics in the different departments at Lürssen. After two years, you will have a qualification as an industrial business administrator. A year and a half later, you will complete your studies and obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.
